This loco was originally built in about 6 weeks to allow it's original owner to operate his miniature railway. Based loosely on the New South Wales Government Railway (SRA) 81 class Diesel Electric. The locomotive is fitted with an air brake (for parking). An horn is fitted. Originally painted in the distinct and colourful livery of the Bicentennial colour scheme, the colour of this loco will change in the next few years.

This loco was purchased by Peter Meyer who embarked on almost a total rebuild. Originally it was powering only one bogie. Peter strengthened the bogies and made it possible to power both bogies. A new engine was used in the rebuild as well.

In 2007, the locomotive was purchased by DVR.
