Sunday 14th Jan was only 25 degrees and the public took advantage of the cooler conditions and flocked to DVR. We carried over 1,900 passengers and had 6 trains in service to cope with the demand. L to R at DV Station, Milwaukee Road, B71 (about to depart) and 8172 loading and G527 passing through the Station on the Up Through Line with the 6 wheel bogie E car set.

The changing scene at DVR. One of the highlights of the Railway is the passing of trains. On 21st January 2007 we see in the foreground a 6 car mixed consist including Jim Willcox's Valley Flyer cars and hauled by T 320 and the DERM passing by on the Outer Circle Line towards Pine Creek, whilst Pat Minihan, in D2 1300, comes round the 60 foot radius Sanctuary Curve on the Up Through Line. From appearances, the passengers are clearly enjoying the atmosphere of trains passing each other!

Jims Willcox's last run behind Helga. On Saturday 18th November, after advertising Helga for sale, the engine was given a test run for the intending purchaser from South Australia and here we see the train exiting Nillumbik Tunnel with Jim relaxing in the Pettersen V/Line Carriage being used for the occasion.
Helga had not been used for at least 12 months and Jim confided to me later that he was a bit nervous as to whether everything would go well,...and of course it did, ...and the transaction was confirmed on a handshake at the end of Platform 2 at the completion of this run. By 2.00pm she was on her way west to Adelaide in a trailer to run at Morphett Vale Railway, which it is doing very well today. I think Jim was happy that it was sold to another steam enthusiast but pensive at the end of an era of having a direct involvement in a steam engine.

On Sunday 21st January 2007, during Jims stay in Hospital, the opportunity was taken to run Jims DERM 55 with John Murdoch's T320 plus the Murdochs AS car, the Pettersens Vline Car, the DVR AS car and Jims three W type cars at the rear. The intention was to print off a copy of several pictures of this very photogenic train and have them taken into Jim to show him that DVR was thinking of him, alas, that was not to be. The six car train is seen here leaving DV Station with John Murdoch on the T and Russell Murdoch powering up the DERM.
