Representation of the first side-corridor sleeping cars in Australia. They were imported
by the S.A.R. (South Australian Railway) to be joint stock on the
Melbourne-Adelaide express. These 4 cars were built by Mann of U.S.A. in 1886 and were
end-platform loaders, weighed around 30 tons and had a capacity of 20
passengers. A further 2 Mann cars were imported in 1889 and differed very slightly in detail to the original 4.
N.S.W. built a close copy of a Mann car in 1889.
