These cars were modelled on Victorian Railways 'E' class carriages built around 1910.
They were all long cars with six-wheel bogies although in more recent times a number
have been given four-wheel bogies of later pattern. The 'AE' was a first class car, the 'BE'
second class and the 'BCE' was a composite vehicle with second
class accommodation and compartments for the guard and goods. Finished in V.R.
standard red with grey window sashes and brown interior.
